Artist Statement
Autumn: the season of harvest. Harvest of ripen fruits, vegetables, and grains. I edited a photograph of a cabbage leaf in Photoshop to create a symmetrical arrangement. I tried to achieve a balanced composition that not only feels aesthetically pleasing, but it also symbolizes a growing cycle, the abundance of life. Furthermore, with the repetition and slight shifting of the green cabbage leaf in two-dimensional space, I created a motif that represent a female reproductive system, the metaphor for lushness and abundance of life. It also has reference to the repeating cycle of the female body.
