‘Animus’ symbolizes gender constructs. The reserved gesture and compacted polyhedral shape on the male form symbolizes the inner feminine within the masculine. The overlapping fish expresses the primordial creature-hood from which mankind springs. Oil paint as medium allows me to most concisely convey concepts and movement of color as an interpretation of “creative energy” from the microcosm to the macrocosm. In my work I seek to reflect my appreciation of the natural world to capture the vitality and creative energy inherent in all things.
