Artist Statement
There are 3000+ charitable ‘clown nuns’ called the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence worldwide. There are eighteen Sisters, Novices, Postulates and Aspirants in the Boston area. For more than three years I have acted as their ‘photo historian’ joining them for a wide variety of fund-raising activities, drag bingo and pride parade. They are my new family.
Photographs, and the human stories behind them can be tools for supporting social change. I hope that by sharing these photographs of the Sisters with the public, that I am contributing to and echoing their desire to build a better world.
The views expressed by our artists in their artist statements do not necessarily represent the views of our art galleries. Artists can be visually expressive but may verbally misrepresent their true intentions or idea
