Artist Statement
Humans and Nature are interconnected, so are Past and Present. I have been interested in the theme of roots and threes for several years. I like to shoot each state of growth, from the birth (leaves) till death (roots), in order to show that life is a never-ending cycle. I took these photos along St-Joseph Lake, in the Portneuf region, in Quebec, Canada.
The first photo aims to depict feet, both wooden and human: the walk of life. The second root represents a metaphor of a human being, at sunset. These photos were taken with a traditional film camera, and then digitized. I turned them into sepia to give them a timeless, nostalgic tone.
The views expressed by our artists in their artist statements do not necessarily represent the views of our art galleries. Artists can be visually expressive but may verbally misrepresent their true intentions or ideas. Please note that we support expression, whether it is controversial or not, but our intention is never to offend.
