Artist Statement
Art has the power to transform a person’s thoughts and emotions. It can even change how a person perceives the world around them. For me as an artist, that transformative act can be relayed to a viewer in a single image. The images I choose to use are taken from common sources such as photography, film, television, comics, and art history, but re-imagined in a way that purposely shows their manipulation. By visually showing transformation, through the sheer manipulation of imagery in the work, the viewer is no longer left to figure out who or what is being transformed but more importantly, why.
