Just Drop Another Bomb
Through hyperbole the work explores the disquiet of living within a culture that has no distinct culture of its own. The canvases progress through atavistic Twombly-esque scribbles, a grid of transfigured book pages, appropriation and right up to the superficial flat rendered image. Utilizing Apophenia (perceiving patterns or connections in meaningless data), as well as material found in the human periphery, the paintings disrupt the exchange between written, verbal, and visual language. The mechanical typography used, along side more handwritten elements, functions as an authoritative voice that can sometimes be misleading or whimsical. Culminating in work that critiques contemporary existence while embracing atavism, with no apologies for sardonic backwards thinking.
(Sub) Human Spittle or: Just Drop Another Bomb declares a structure of lies to explain half-truths. Social order and the human condition grow out of instruments of violence i.e. the barrel of a gun or a neutron bomb. Humanity fetishize violence as a first resort, like adding sugar to a cup of coffee. The patriarch indoctrinates the youth with hostility, cruelty and indifference. Centered, the dissected figure speaks of sugar and has bombs on the brain. Lost in apathy, her verbal communication breaks down in favor of defined sweetness. These observations present no solution on how to solve the problem.
