Artist Statement
“December” captures an element of nature by using color and movement to convey a sense of mood and emotion – regardless if the painting is seen as literal or representational.
When saturating the canvas with color, I lose the presence of my physical self and place all my attention on the work in front of me – which was the methodology used with this particular painting.
The primary focus is the palette knife as it delves into the viscous oil paint and sculpts color on the canvas. With each painting, it is my goal to entertain the viewer’s eye by absorbing the colors and textures of the paint in front of them.
