Diamond was inspired by my fascination with symmetry, and the endless possibilities for using it in abstract art. It is intended to encourage the mind to look for, and think about, patterns and relationships.
Inspiration for my pencil drawings comes from a variety of sources, including architecture, machinery, and shapes, lines and shadows that we observe throughout our everyday lives. The idea for Diamond came about while I was sitting in a restaurant alone and began experimenting with symmetry. The drawing is part of a group of pieces that explores this interesting concept.
Along with colored pencils, I only use a ruler and circle template to create the drawings. No computer is used during the drawing process, and no color enhancement tools are employed. Although different drawings touch on or incorporate similar themes, each drawing is entirely unique.
