When I first came to California I became enamored with the County Fairs that are held each year. They each seem to have a different flavor. The reference for this painting was shot in the Midway of the Los Angeles county fair.
I love trying to capture movement, these moments seem to strip away some of the insulations we keep between ourselves and the world around us.
